These illustrations were made in collaboration with Aarhus-based sax player Jacob Danielsen for the release of the debut LP of his jazz quartet “Jacob D’s Tukaan”.

He approached me with the idea of making an illustrated video to one of the tracks on the album, and we decided on the track “Orphan Child”. I wanted the video to have a narrative, and both the title and the music of this track are very lyrical and evocative, making it a great choice to illustrate.

I decided to work with a hand drawn, sketch-like style, and to bring a feeling of innocence to the illustrations, as if they were taken straight from a picture book, while still respecting the seriousness and poetic quality of the music.
